YMCA Camp Thunderbird is a premier 100-acre waterfront camp located 17 miles south of Charlotte on Lake Wylie, operating since 1936. The camp also features a Counselor-in-Training (CIT) program for rising high school juniors, providing leadership development and mentoring opportunities. The camp provides flexible scheduling options including full-day programs (7:00 am-6:00 pm), half-day sessions for school-age children, and age-appropriate preschool programs. Special features include the Farm to Feast culinary program, beekeeping activities, field trips, and a strong focus on both fun and personal growth through diverse activities ranging from arts and crafts to challenging outdoor pursuits.
