Each week features a unique themed experience that invites children into worlds of creativity, storytelling, nature exploration, and joyful discovery. The camp philosophy centers on child-led learning rooted in outdoor exploration, loose parts play, and open-ended creativity using recycled and natural materials. With themes ranging from “Stories We Can See” (fairytales and visual storytelling) to “The Land Before Us” (dinosaur and fossil discovery), “Forest Folk & Magical Creatures” (woodland imagination), “Wildly Creative” (animal-inspired art), “Just Play!” (classic summertime fun), and “Little Makers” (building and tinkering), there’s a unique experience for every week of summer.
All camps share a consistent daily rhythm that balances indoor and outdoor play, with outdoor time woven into every day. The programs emphasize small group settings with nurturing educators, creativity-driven activities using loose parts and recycled materials, and themes inspired by childhood wonder. Children engage in hands-on learning at rotating centers, problem-solving through creative making, and social-emotional development activities. The camp draws inspiration from Reggio Emilia, Waldorf, and Montessori approaches, creating a natural playground environment where children explore, imagine, and grow through play.
Piedmont Progressive Preschool maintains a commitment to quality early childhood education with limited enrollment to preserve small group sizes and individualized attention. The camp runs from June through early August 2026, with weekly sessions allowing families flexibility in choosing which themed weeks to attend. Multi-week and sibling discounts make it accessible for families attending multiple sessions or with multiple children.
